Alexandra Musical Society (AMS) is powered by fun, passionate locals who love theatre, music, creativity, and bringing unforgettable stories to life. Whether you dream of being on stage, behind the curtain, or part of the team making the magic happen there is a place for you here.
🔥 Their next major production hits the stage 26 September – 2 October 2026, and they are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the adventure.
No experience? Awesome. Experienced theatre legend? Even better. They welcome everyone willing to jump in, learn new skills, meet great people, and be part of something exciting for our community. Each area has a head of department who will coach you along the way.
Volunteer roles include:
🎭 Front of House
The friendly faces of the show. Welcoming audiences, ushering, programmes, and helping create an incredible theatre experience.
🛠️ Backstage & Props
Help transform the stage into another world by sourcing, creating, organising, and managing props and backstage action.
💄 Hair & Makeup
Bring characters to life with creative hair and makeup magic. Training and support provided for those keen to learn.
📣 Marketing & Promotions
Help generate buzz across social media, community networks, posters, photography, cast promotion, and sponsor recognition.
🤝Sponsorship & Community Support
Work alongside the team connecting with local businesses and supporters who help make live theatre possible.
🍰 Catering & Hospitality
Keep cast, crew, volunteers, and audiences fuelled and smiling with food, refreshments, and hospitality support.
🔨 Set Building & Creative Crew
Get hands-on building, painting, designing, shifting sets, and helping create spectacular visual moments on stage.
🌟 Volunteering with AMS is fun, rewarding, social, creative, and a brilliant way to grow confidence, skills, and friendships while contributing to something truly special in Central Otago.
