Alzheimers Otago is a dedicated non-profit organisation supporting individuals, families, and whānau living with dementia. They provide navigation, education, advocacy, and support services across the Otago region.

They are looking for a skilled professional to join their governance team and help shape their financial future.

As Treasurer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health, sustainability, and strategic oversight of their charity. You will work closely with the Board Chair, fellow board members, and the Manager to oversee financial reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret the monthly financial reports produced by the Manager, presenting key insights at board meetings.
  • Assist the Manager in preparing the annual budget.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Board regarding financial risks and investments.
  • Act as a signatory for bank accounts alongside other designated board members.

Requirements

  • A qualified or experienced accountant (CA/CPA or equivalent)
  • Experience with, or a strong understanding of, non-profit / charity financial governance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial board members.
  • A shared passion for supporting our community and improving the lives of those affected by dementia.

A Police background check is required for this role.
