Wilding Pine Control

Whakatipu Wilding Control Group (WCG) hold regular volunteer conservation events to remove wilding pines in various areas around the Whakatipu.

These events are 2-3 hours in duration and are a great way to enjoy like-minded company, spectacular views and fresh mountain air while helping to pull and lop a few wilding pines. It’s a great way to connect with the local community and enhance your wellbeing and fitness all at the same time.

WCG are happy to show you the ropes and supply all the equipment and knowledge needed. They can also cater to small groups, workplaces, conferences and one off events.

Requirements

  • Reasonable level of fitness.
  • Sturdy footwear (think hiking boots).
  • Ability to work on slopes or potentially slippery surfaces.
  • Self-arranged transport to the chosen site (all tools and knowhow provided by WCG!)

Time commitment

From 2-3 hours up to a full day depending on the work site.
