Araiteuru Marae is bringing whānau and the wider Dunedin community together through a series of Night Markets focused on whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and community connection.
We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help make these events welcoming, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Volunteer roles may include:
Helping with setup and pack-down
Welcoming whānau and visitors
Supporting stallholders and vendors
Helping with parking and general event coordination
Supporting tamariki activities
Assisting with performances and entertainment
Helping with lucky ticket prize draws
Keeping the market area tidy
Photography and social media
General event support and manaaki
This is a great opportunity to meet people, contribute to the local community and experience being part of a kaupapa that brings together whānau, community organisations, local businesses and service providers.
We are looking for people who are:
Friendly, approachable and reliable
Comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds
Respectful of Māori tikanga, kaupapa and the marae environment
Happy to work as part of a team
Willing to pitch in and help where needed
No previous event experience is required. A positive attitude and willingness to help are the most important things.
Volunteers under 18 may be considered for suitable roles with appropriate supervision.
Four Night Markets are planned:
Friday 25 September 2026
Friday 30 October 2026
Friday 27 November 2026
Friday 11 December 2026
Markets run 5.00pm–8.00pm, with setup from approximately 3.30pm and pack-down following the event.
Volunteers can help with one market or multiple dates. We are happy to work around people's availability, and shorter or flexible shifts may be possible.
