Predator Free Wānaka's mission is to see thriving native wildlife in the Upper Clutha, seeing more tūī, kārearea, grebes, geckos & skinks.
Over 25 million native birds are killed by introduced predators every year in Aotearoa | New Zealand. PFW is working towards a predator free Upper Clutha, as part of the national Predator Free 2050 mission.
If you've ventured out you will have seen PFW's traps along rivers and tracks. They're often in beautiful scenic areas.
As a trapper you'll be joining an engaged group of volunteers that walk the trap lines to check and re-bait the traps, and record catches in the TrapNZ app. Every predator removed directly increases the number of native birds, geckos and skinks. Over time, with your help, we'll really start to notice a difference.
Not only will you get into the outdoors into some of the most scenic spots, but you'll also be helping the birds and wildlife in the Upper Clutha.
Predator Free Wānaka also has a great social trappers meeting every couple of months at B.Social which often have a guest speaker and are well attended.
Full training given and heaps of flexibility. Join with PFW and join a fantastic team!
