πŸŒ±πŸ§€πŸŒ³πŸ¦πŸ’š South Otago branch helps with the protection and restoration of the unique lowland and coastal ecosystems of the southeastern part of the South Island, especially in the spectacular Catlins region. Forest & Bird South Otago is a dedicated and active branch committed to protecting the unique environment and wildlife of The Catlins. Since its formation in 1978, the group has worked to restore native habitats, control introduced predators, and raise awareness of the threats facing Aotearoa’s natural heritage β€” including habitat loss and climate change. Volunteers can get involved in a wide range of hands-on conservation projects such as native plant propagation, biodiversity monitoring, predator control, and ecological restoration. Monthly meetings often include working bees in their native plant nursery, and are open to anyone passionate about the environment β€” no membership required. Whether you’re experienced in conservation or simply want to give back to nature, Forest & Bird South Otago offers meaningful ways to make a difference.πŸŒ±πŸ§€πŸŒ³πŸ¦πŸ’š
