Sue has lived in Central Otago for 17 years, moving to Alexandra from Dunedin with her husband and young family. She quickly became immersed in the community through her work as the Quality Co-ordinator at the Charlotte Jean Maternity Hospital and through a range of community groups. Sport has always been a big part of her life and she has fond memories of those volunteers who supported her to take part in those activities. Sue has enjoyed being able to use her skills in volunteer secretarial, event organisation, policy and funding roles but she also enjoys being hands on with activities like planting trees or cleaning up community spaces.
Passionate about community development, Sue loves being part of a community that embraces initiatives that help build a strong, resilient and caring community. She is especially grateful for the way many organisations provide leadership opportunities, training and support for their youth volunteers.
Sue joins the Volunteer South team in April 2024 and is excited to be working with both volunteers and organisations who are making a difference in our community. In her spare time she continues to enjoy volunteering, exploring the outdoors, tramping and vegetable gardening.
