Hamilton Park Gore parkrun - Keep the Community Running

Bridget started the parkrun in Gore a few years ago and the event is entirely organised by volunteers.

Bridget is the Event Director and organises every single parkrun every weekend (172 events to date). This is an exceptional commitment and amazing contribution to the community especially having a full-time job as a teacher and being a mum to three beautiful children. But her commitment goes far beyond logistics. Bridget has built something that means more than kilometres and finish lines.

There's joy in every high-five, every personal best, every newcomer who says, "I didn't think I could do that!" She's helped create a space where strangers become friends, kids outrun their parents, and volunteers feel like superheroes in hi-vis.

Bridget's story proves that volunteering isn't just about giving time-it's about making time matter. Parkrun is free, fun, and completely volunteer-powered. And people like Bridget are the heart of it.
