The Waikouaiti Coast Heritage Centre is East Otago’s leading regional museum. In addition to a collection of over 15000 items, it hosts an information centre, offers a genealogy research service & sells document and photographic reproductions. The Gallery/Gift Shop offers a selection of paintings, craft work, souvenirs and gift lines. a. To promote community interest in the history of the Waikouaiti coastal region. b. To collect and document, conserve, research, communicate, and exhibit for the purposes of study and enjoyment material evidence and information of human settlement and the environment of the Waikouaiti district for the public benefit. c. Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with local groups including the Kati Huirapa Runaka, schools, heritage groups and information centres. d.
