The Positive Youth Development in Aotearoa (PYDA) for Volunteers training is for everyone who supports, mentors, coaches, guides, or spends time alongside young people, whether through youth groups, sport, community programmes, churches, schools, or other settings.

This 3-hour FREE training helps volunteers better understand the influence they have and the role they play in shaping a young person's sense of belonging, confidence, identity, and capability. Grounded in Positive Youth Development and guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the training explores practical ways to build positive relationships using a strengths-based approach and empowering agency, to help young people grow, connect, and thrive.

Volunteers leave with greater confidence, a shared understanding of good youth practice, and practical ideas they can apply immediately in their role to support positive outcomes for rangatahi. Whether they're brand new to working with young people or have years of experience, PYDA provides a strong professional foundation to working with young people, and helps them turn good instincts into intentional practice.
