Volunteer South is proud to be hosting the Governance Mentoring Programme to support and strengthen community leaders in the non-profit sector.
What are the benefits?
Increased effectiveness for mentees in governance roles, achieved through development of their governance skills, knowledge and confidence.
How does it work?
Mentees register their interest for the programme, specifying their personal development goals. Mentees are then shortlisted and interviewed to confirm final selection and numbers.
Mentors are sourced from across the community and are matched with mentees based on goals and experience.
Mentees and mentors receive training, orientation and six months of support, including setting development goals.
The programme runs for six months, with a minimum of 6 x mentoring sessions (1-2 hours in length).
Mentees and mentors attend learning and networking meetings to strengthen the connections between all participants.
Impact evaluation and outcome reporting are completed at the end of the programme.
Who should register for the programme?
Anyone currently sitting on a governance board or committee with a community organisation who is wanting to grow and develop their effectiveness and confidence in their governance role (and capability for potential future roles in our community)
The 2023 programme in Central Lakes has now wrapped up for the year. The 2023/24 Dunedin programme is underway and fully subscribed. We hope to run this programme again in 2024 - keep an eye our for more details.
