Leadership in Governance Mentoring Programme - Central Lakes

Leadership in Governance Mentoring Programme - Central Lakes

huddl is proud to be delivering the Leadership in Governance Mentoring Programme in partnership with the Mentoring Foundation of New Zealand. This is a six month programme designed to support and strengthen community leaders in the non-profit sector in the Central Lakes region (including communities within Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes).

What are the benefits?

  • Become more effective in your governance or committee roles, achieved through development of your governance skills, knowledge and confidence.
  • Receive one-on-one support to help identify your development priorities.
  • Improve your networks and connections and be part of a peer learning network with leaders in local communities.
  • Gain access to a proven mentoring model which helps you get the most out of your mentoring relationships.
  • Receive ongoing support along with your mentor to keep you focused on your development priorities.
  • Personal development of motivated leaders to help create sustainable community organisations and to drive aspirations for future governance opportunities.

How does it work?

  • Mentees register their interest for the programme, specifying their personal development goals.
  • Mentees are then shortlisted and interviewed to confirm final selection and numbers.
  • Mentors are sourced from across the community and are matched with mentees based on goals and experience.
  • Mentees and mentors receive training, orientation and six months of support, including setting development goals.
  • Programme will run from August 2024 to April 2025, with a minimum of 6 x mentoring sessions (1-2 hours in length).
  • Mentees and mentors attend learning and networking meetings to strengthen the connections between all participants.
  • Impact evaluation and outcome reporting are completed at the end of the programme.

Who should register for the programme?

  • MENTEES: Anyone currently sitting on a governance board or committee with a community organisation who is wanting to grow and develop their effectiveness and confidence in their governance role (and capability for potential future roles in our community).

  • MENTORS: Community members with strong not-for-profit governance experience and skills, with a passion for sharing their knowledge to benefit our local community organisations.
