The role of the school pedestrian crossing monitor is to educate, supervise and assist students to cross the roads safely.

Requirements

  • An ability to see and assess traffic conditions to provide the oversight needed to ensure our students cross the roads safely.
  • A willingness to engage and communicate effectively with students to provide clear advice on road safety best practise for pedestrian crossings.
  • Physically assist students across our two pedestrian crossings at the corner of Surrey and South Road but done so with an emphasis on them taking ownership of this task.

No particular dress code is required.
A high viz vest and signage will be supplied.
A full safety induction will be given to volunteers by Police (School Community Officer)

8.30-9.00 am
and
2.50-3.20 pm

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break.
