Dundein Riding for the Disabled (DRDA) has a small herd of 7-8 horses that are trained to take part in therapeutic riding and handling sessions on a regular basis.
As a Horse care volunteer, you will be:
- Helping DRDA care for and manage their horse herd.
- Feeding horses their hay and hard feed.
- Mucking out their paddocks.
- Rugging and un-rugging the horses as required.
- Topping up and clean water troughs.
Note: You will not be riding the horses.
Training:
- While previous experience of handling horses is an advantage, orientation training is provided.
- You will also have access to RDA's comprehensive internal website.

Requirements
- Previous experience being around horses.
- Horse experience is helpful.
- Physically fit.
- Wear warm clothing appropriate for the job; covered shoes and sunhat if needed.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
- Morning duties start around 9am and usually take 1-2 hours.
- Afternoon duties start around 5pm and usually take 1-2 hours.
