The Salvation Army has been fighting poverty, social and spiritual distress in New Zealand since 1883. They treat people with the care and dignity they deserve. Volunteers are needed within the Queenstown & Wanaka Salvation Army stores where they play a crucial role in the stores, representing The Salvation Army in New Zealand and raising funds to contribute to the wide range of projects they run.
Volunteers will only be asked to assist in areas they feel comfortable with, this may include:
The Salvation Army has one store in Queenstown at 71 Gorge Rd and one store in Wanaka at 12 Umbers St. The stores are open Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm. Volunteers are needed for shifts throughout the opening hours.
Volunteers gain satisfaction from contributing to the fundraising efforts of Salvation Army in New Zealand. Volunteers can also gain a wide range of retail skills.
Volunteers must be 14 yrs+ and have a willingness to be the face of Salvation Army in New Zealand. A neat and tidy appearance and ability to communicate with customers in the store is essential. A high level of honesty and respect for confidentiality is essential. Retail experience is useful but not essential as training is provided and volunteers placed in a role where they feel comfortable.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break.
