The Salvation Army has been fighting poverty, social and spiritual distress in New Zealand since 1883. They treat people with the care and dignity they deserve. Volunteers will be placed within the Wanaka Salvation Army store where they play a crucial role in the store, representing Salvation Army in New Zealand and raising funds to contribute the wide range of projects they run. Volunteers will only be asked to assist in areas they feel comfortable with, this may include: sales, customer service, chatting to customers, cleaning, sorting items donated and clothing, picking up donated goods.
Volunteers gain satisfaction from contributing to the fundraising efforts of Salvation Army in New Zealand. Volunteers can also gain a wide range of retail skills.
Interested volunteers must be over 14 years of age and have a willingness to be the face of Salvation Army in New Zealand.
A neat and tidy appearance and ability to communicate with customers in the store is essential.
A high level of honesty and respect for confidentiality is essential.
*Retail experience is useful but not essential as training is provided and volunteers placed in a role where they feel comfortable.
Flexible depending on volunteers other commitments. The store is open Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturday mornings and volunteers are needed for shifts throughout the opening hours. Volunteers should be available for a minimum of 3 months.
