Since 1883, The Salvation Army has fought poverty and social and spiritual distress in New Zealand. They’ve been there to help more than 120,000 families and individuals in need each year—with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other comfort and support. The Salvation Army are committed to our mission of caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society. They work hard to provide better options in life and a helping hand towards a brighter future for families and individuals who ask for help.
One of the many services the Salvation Army provides in Alexandra is the food bank. Alexandra New World generously donates credits (damaged or expired but still consumable groceries) which are put aside for collection by the food bank for needy people in our community.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select. Please be patient and if you have not heard back from them by mid January email them directly and give them a nudge. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season and summer.
