Arrowtown swim club is a small community club that provides lessons and races during the summer season in Arrowtown. The pool is an outdoor pool and the main pool is 29-metres long, has five lanes and ranges in depth from 0.9m to 1.8m. The water is solar heated and temperatures range from 18oC to 25oC depending on sunshine hours. The pool is open for a short season from January to March.

They require a volunteer swim coach for children aged 4-15. The club can provide expenses for travel.

Volunteers can work towards their Swim Coach Certificate whilst supporting a local, non-profit community swim club. You will be directly helping young children and teenagers develop their swimming skills in a friendly, safe and pleasant environment and we hope will gain satisfaction from meeting new people, being part of the community and sharing your skills.

Requirements

Volunteers are required to have a Swim Coach Certificate or be training towards it. The club can offer help to complete training and assist with funding to attend swim coach lessons.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

They hold a week long swim coach sessions for kids aged 4-16 during the last week in January before going back to school. This takes place in the evenings from 6.00-7.00pm. In February/March they have training sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights from 6.00-7.00pm. On the Friday nights they have a free BBQ and ribbon night. Volunteer coaches are required for all of these sessions so any time you can offer on either or all of these nights would be welcome.
