Alexandra District Parents Centre is part of a nationwide voluntary organisation set up by parents for parents. They are a friendly group whose aim is to support parents in the community and offer fun learning and social activities for them and their children to enjoy.
Parents Centres share a vision of New Zealand being a society that values parenting as being fundamental to the well-being of all members of society and believe that parenting creates the environment that sews the fabric of our social structure. Education, support and services are focused on driving that vision.
Their mission is to bring about a society in which parents are highly valued in their role in the community through positive birth experiences and informed parenting and advocacy.
They are looking for volunteers to help with their popular initiative Meals for Mums; making meals for new mums and families in the community who could do with a home cooked meal to make their lives a bit easier.
If you think you can spare some time to help them out, even making some home baking is a big help, or if there’s a couple of you who’d like to spend an afternoon working together to make a batch of meals for families in our community please get in touch.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their cooking skills. They will gain satisfaction from knowing they are helping feed new mums and families in the community.
Friendly, interest in cooking and community.
