Dunedin Curtain Bank is a charity that collects donated curtains, fixes them up, thermally lines them and gives them to people in need. Their aim is to help local people keep their homes warm and healthy.
This year they are super busy (in fact this is their busiest year ever), and they need experienced sewers to help them keep up with demand.
In this role you will be:
- Working in their simple but well resourced workshop
(Workshop is equipped with a range of industrial and domestic machines)
- Volunteering as an experienced machinists by helping to make alterations
- Attaching curtain tape
- Lining curtains
- Sewing a variety of other smaller products for fundraising
(such as shopping bags, wheat bags, door draft-stops, etc)
Training provided:
- Their lead machinist will provide you with induction training
(Support provided to guide new volunteers)

Requirements
- Some prior domestic sewing machine experience
(industrial machine experience would be a bonus)
- DCB provide an induction and training programme
Time commitment
- Opening hours Mon - Thursday 9am - 4pm
- Minimum commitment - 2-3 hours per week or fortnight (Flexible)
