Afternoon Tea Volunteer, Age Concern Gentle Exercise Class

Organisation:

Age Concern Otago

Category:

Social Support

Hours:

Both/Flexible

Locations:

Oamaru

Gentle Exercise class is followed by a social afternoon tea. Gentle Exercise is an instructor-led, seated exercise class, set to music. This is a very casual, social activity and our participants come along for the tea and chat as much as for the exercise! Our volunteers prepare the afternoon tea, help serve it to participants after class, and help tidy up afterwards. Interact and chat or stay behind the scenes, whichever suits your personality.

Requirements

Positive attitude!
Police vetting required for our volunteer positions (no cost to you).

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Tuesdays. Weekly or by arrangement. We are looking to have a larger pool of volunteers to allow for more flexibility.
On the days when you volunteer you will probably arrive at Orwell Street church hall some time before 1:30pm. Tea is served at about 2:20, and the event finishes before 3 p.m., starts wrapping up about 2:45.

Getting started

The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select. Please be patient and if you have not heard back from them by mid January email them directly and give them a nudge. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season and summer.
