Our undergraduate occupational therapy curriculum delivers a diverse range of topics and concepts for students to become competent practitioners within Aotearoa New Zealand. We are seeking volunteers to come and talk to our students face to face (or via video conference) about their personal experiences of health, wellbeing, injury or disability. These guest speaker experiences enhance our students understanding of how conditions may impact a persons life in the community, at home and at work.

The following are some suggestions for guest speakers

  • You have experienced an injury or illness which impacted your return to community life, work or home
  • You live with a lifelong disability
  • You have been a caregiver for someone who has experienced illness, injury or a disability
  • You would like to share your story relative to changes in physical or mental health/wellbeing

You would be required to come to Otago Polytechnic occupational therapy school for 1-2 hours.
We are open to hearing your personal story and working with you to provide a learning opportunity for our students.
Please do contact us if you are unsure about your fit for this opportunity.
