“You can’t beat the rewarding feeling you get from volunteering at a place like this. It connects you to others and offers great fulfilment. It’s wonderful to be part of such a caring team.” - Mavis, Ronald McDonald Family Room volunteer.
Ronald McDonald Family Room is situated onsite at Southland Hospital, just metres from the Neonatal and Children's Wards. It acts as a haven for families to stay, rest, eat and meet whilst being only steps away from their child's hospital bed. By removing the stressors of everyday life, they give families the ability to focus on what matters most - their child and what they need most - each other. It's only through the generous support of our community that they can continue to keep their doors open to families that need them.
Every year around 120 families stay at the Family Room, and thousands more utilise the facility as day guests. The Family Room features four bedrooms with ensuites as well as a kitchen, dining room, lounge, laundry and an outdoor courtyard.
