Age Concern Otago promotes wellbeing, rights, respect and dignity for Otago's older people.

Provide 1 to 1 support to individual participants during “Silver Tech” smartphone classes, helping to reinforce and further explain the information being delivered by the class instructor.

Classes run weekly for 4 weeks and are 2 hours in duration. Class materials are very specific and you will familiarise yourself with the content beforehand, so that you are comfortable with providing assistance. Classes are small, not more than 6-8 participants at the very most.

The ideal person is patient and empathetic, and a sense of fun is always appreciated, too!

Requirements

General familiarity/comfort level with smart phones and basic technology.

The class materials will help fill in any gaps in your own knowledge and there is no pressure to be a complete expert! The curriculum focuses on the very basics for getting the most out of your smartphone for daily activities.

Good communication with a clear speaking voice.
Friendly, good sense of humour and able to relate to older people.
Patience and ability to adjust your approach as needed.

Time commitment

Commit to assist at the four sessions - two hours each over a four week period.
Can be a one-off activity, or if you have enjoyed it we will welcome you back for additional classes!
