Able Minds facilitates Activity Centres and Peer Support Groups for tangata whaiora in a community-based environment. They organise formalised group sessions where those with mental distress and addiction issues can come for peer support to actively focus on their recovery by learning new skills to build self-esteem and confidence to reengage in the community.
Their arts-based sessions aim to offer opportunities to build new relationships, develop new skills for everyday life and to enrich and empower members to try new things.
They are looking for a superstar facilitator who can teach us about Oamaru stone carving. We have a small amount of stone available at the centre. You would be working with a friendly, entertaining bunch of people who can offer you fun banter, delicious home baking and endless cups of coffee.
Are you someone that:
If you fit the above requirements and have been fully vaccinated, they want to meet you! Your skills and expertise don’t have to be limited to stone carving, there may be other areas that you could support them in, they would love to know!
A sense of humour, patience, vaccination.
A Police background check is required for this role.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select. Please be patient and if you have not heard back from them by mid January email them directly and give them a nudge. Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season and summer.
