Bike Wanaka is a charitable organization at the heart of biking in Wanaka. They represent a wide variety of bikers and work to engage the community through events and group rides, build and maintain trails, enjoying recreation and connection with the beautiful local environment.

They are looking for volunteers to assist with the running of our community bike events. Joining the volunteer team is a great way to give back and connect with other people in the local bike community.

What the role may entail:

  • Setting up courses
  • Marshalling / registering competitors
  • Being positioned throughout a course to assist and update
  • Using a radios or phone to communicate with team
  • Taking photos or video
  • Tasks will be adapted depending on skills and abilities
  • Hi-vis uniform and sunscreen is provided for all volunteers

Requirements

  • Some roles may require standing for 2-3 hrs at a time
  • Locations for volunteering are varied- accessible by biking, on foot, or by wheelchair - you will be matched with a role that suits you best
  • Energy and enthusiasm for biking and community events
  • Team player and ability to collaborate with others
  • Some roles may be suitable for young volunteers 16 years and older

Time commitment

Opportunities to volunteer vary and depend on events so they could be:

  • once a month OR
  • one off 2-5 hours after work OR
  • on the weekend
