Abbeyfield is a registered charity within the social housing sector that offers independent living for the young at heart. This property is a home, and provides an environment support and companionship for all residents.

They have lovely landscaping around the building, as well as a veggie garden and hothouse. They need help with mowing the lawns in the summer months and assisting one of the residents in building a garden shed. All materials are available on-site.

This would suit someone who:

  • Has an interest in enhancing the quality of life for seniors

When you volunteer here you will:

Once you have expressed an interest in the role, you'll be asked to come in for a chat and have a look around the property, and given an orientation of the work that needs to be done.

Requirements

  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Enjoy interacting with residents
  • Enjoy gardening/DIY
  • Aged 16y +

Time commitment

  • Mowing the lawns takes about 2 hours and can be done on any day depending on your availability. Needed once a week in summer.
  • Building the garden shed can be a 1-day project, if done by a small group- but this is flexible based on your availability.
