St Andrews Aged Care Home sits on a sunny site in South Dunedin and offers hospital and rest home dementia care for up to 78 residents.

Music plays a fundamental role in our identity, culture and heritage and can evoke powerful memories and emotions. Music also plays an important role in the care of older people, it can help seniors and people living with dementia express their feelings, communicate with others, and prompt memories through listening. The home has four spacious lounge areas with pianos, meaning there are plenty of lovely spaces for music to be enjoyed in.

  • Play for an hour or so in one lounge area or 4-6 songs in each lounge.
  • Happy to accommodate you on any afternoon of the week.
  • Chose your own music or take request from residents.
  • Staff are always present.

Requirements

This role would suit someone who is:

  • Passionate about music and the benefits it has on the health of older people
  • Comfortable playing piano to a group of people
  • A good communicator * Punctual and reliable
  • Considerate and understanding of elder needs
  • Friendly with a good sense of humour
  • Caring and respectful
  • Complete a Police Check as you are working with vulnerable individuals
  • Sign a Code of Conduct as part of your orientation.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

1 -2 hours weekly or fortnightly depending on the day and your availability. Monday through Sunday, so any afternoon between 2.00 - 4.30pm that suited you.
