Cub Leader - Mosgiel Scout Group 8-10 1/2

Cubs are the 2nd of 5 sections, belonging to SCOUTS. SCOUTS is all about fun, challenges, and adventure. SCOUTS are New Zealand's biggest mixed youth organisation and change lives by offering 5 to 26 year olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences and everyday adventure. They offer the chance to help others to make a positive impact in our communities. SCOUTS helps children and young adults to reach their full potential. They develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self motivation, cultural awareness, and commitment. SCOUTS are the world’s largest non-formal education institution, serving over 13,000 young people all across New Zealand.

Assist the Senior Cub Leader/Kaiarahi to deliver the Cubs programme at the of the Mosgiel Scout Group

• Have an understanding of the background, principle, method, spiritual dimension and structure of Scouts.
• Deliver the national programme for the Cubs section taking into account needs, interests and abilities of youth member.
• Agree upon the responsibilities with the other leaders, parent helpers and scouting associates.
• Ensure the safe delivery of the programme in accordance within policy, organisation , events and adventurous activities.
• Prepare and encourage youth members to progress to the next level.
• Mentor the youth to develop their leadership skills.

• A uniform and Scarf will be provided.
• Compulsory Police Background check will be undertaken

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Tuesdays from 6:30pm - 8pm. Meet once a term to plan each term for about an hour. Camping/sleepovers also involved: Coastal Otago Zone Events (Cub camp, Winter Camp, Senior Cub Camp).
