Shop Assistant

Southland Hospital Volunteers Charitable Trust provides a small shop that offers various gifts, soft toys, knitting, toiletries, drinks and small food items to purchase. The profits from our shop are then used to purchase equipment etc for all areas within the hospital e.g. lazy boy chairs, i Pads, sensory items etc.

They are looking for volunteers to cover some shifts at the shop. Ideally, you are someone who:

  • Enjoys meeting with people
  • Has front of house skills
  • Has good communication skills
  • Is customer focused, reliable and trustworthy

Volunteers are given clear work expectations, and mentoring is also provided. You can brighten the days of visitors and patients alike, while helping the hospital raise funds for items that create a more comfortable environment for all. The trust also involves volunteers in decision making processes in regards to the purchase of items requested for all areas within the hospital.

Requirements

  • Can follow basic shop/retail procedures
  • Has a friendly personality
  • Enjoys talking to people
  • Cares about the well-being of patients and visitors at the hospital

Time commitment

Shop is open from Monday to Friday

  • Shifts are 10am - 1pm OR 1pm - 4pm
  • Number and frequency of shifts is per your availability

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break. During this time your requests to connect will go through, however there may be some delay in you hearing from the organisations you select.
