Located on Cardrona Valley Road in Wanaka, Aspiring Enliven provides housing in a caring, friendly setting and caters for residents of varying needs, including a dedicated dementia wing. The Care Centre is purpose-built to capture the best of Wanaka's views and climate. This role is based in the Cardrona wing that offers rest home or hospital level care.

As part of this role, you will support and work alongside staff by:

  • engaging residents in conversation
  • encouraging and supporting residents to join with music and movement
  • helping staff with an activity like dominos, bingo or art.

Training and support:
You will receive a full orientation and training, and you will always be working along side staff.

Requirements

Perfect for someone who:

  • is friendly, reliable and trustworthy
  • has good communication skills. 
  • is physically capable of pushing wheelchairs
  • is able to assist with moving furniture like chairs so residents can access and participate in activities
  • have a natural and genuine interest in older people
  • have a patient, caring and respectful attitude
  • enjoy working in a team
  • complete the appropriate training
  • sign a code of conduct.

As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people, Enliven take great care in choosing their volunteers. You will need to complete a Police Check and provide references.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • 2 hours a week or fortnight or more frequently depending on your availability. 
  • Between 9:30 and 11:30pm 
  • Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Please specify below which days you prefer.
  • 6 month commitment preferred
