Van Outing Assistant, Aspiring Enliven, Wanaka

Located on Cardrona Valley Road in Wanaka, Aspiring Enliven provides housing in a caring, friendly setting and caters for residents of varying needs, including a dedicated dementia wing.

As part of this role, you will support and work alongside staff by:

• Accompany residents on the van outing
• engaging residents in conversation
• assisting and supporting getting on and off the van.

Training and support: You will receive a full orientation and training, and you will always be working alongside staff.

Requirements

Perfect for someone who:

• is friendly, reliable and trustworthy
• has good communication skills
• is physically capable of pushing wheelchairs
• is able to assist with moving furniture like chairs so residents can access and participate in activities
• have a natural and genuine interest in older people
• have a patient, caring and respectful attitude
• enjoy working in a team
• complete the appropriate training
• sign a code of conduct.

As you will be stepping into the 'Home' of elderly people, Enliven take great care in choosing their volunteers. You will need to complete a Police Check and provide references.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

• 5-6 hours on a Wednesday, starting about 9:30am - 3:30pm
• weekly or fortnightly depending on your availability
• 6 month commitment preferred
