Family Supporters will be a part of The Young Family Support Programme. This programme is coordinated by Cromwell Community House and aims to provide extra help for families of preschool age children. The programme facilitator works closely with the families and volunteers to ensure that both parties feel confident and supported in the programme.
Some of things that volunteers can help with;

  • Companionship and a listening ear.
  • Assisting with household tasks such as meal prep, tidying, vacuuming.
  • Accompanying parents to appointments, playgroups or food shopping.

Requirements

We are looking for people who:

  • Enjoy being around families and children
  • Are empathetic and non-judgmental
  • Understand and respect confidentiality
  • Are 18yrs and older
  • Have a current First Aid Certificate (not essential)
  • Have reliable, registered and warranted transport to get to families homes

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Initial 2hr induction training.
  • The programme runs for 6 weeks. You will spend 2hrs with the family each week.
  • Attend occasional volunteer catch-ups.
