They are currently welcoming leaders to come and join their Guiding Club. Clubs are made up of Pippins (5 & 6yr olds), Brownies (7 - 9yr olds), Guides (9 - 12.5Yrs) and Rangers (12 - 17yrs)
In this role you will:

  • As a GGNZ leader - attend a 2hr (in person) weekly session during school terms
  • Assist and inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Support girls to drive their own learning through fun, challenging and exciting programmes, that lead to recognition and awards
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network
  • Plan and attend trips, camps, and other events outside of the weekly meetings

Volunteers will get:

  • To further develop their own leadership, training and facilitation skills

Requirements

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Ability to run activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening/weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader/planning meetings, and trips or camps
  • They do need volunteers to be reliable
  • Although previous experience working with youth is an advantage - there is the ability to upskill
  • GGNZ's Health and Safety policy has specific requirements around adult to child ratios
  • This opportunity is best suited to someone 18yrs or older

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • This role would require 1 – 2 hrs a week when attending a weekly meeting
  • Availability on Thursdays 4pm - 5.30pm
  • Additional time is needed when planning trips, camps and other events outside of the weekly meetings
  • They also require a minimum commitment of six month for this role
