Marketing Whiz

As one of New Zealand's 63 Coastguard units across Aotearoa, Coastguard Queenstown, maintains and operates their own dedicated rescue vessel. These amazing volunteers respond to the call for help 24 hours a day 7 days a week across Lake Wakatipu and beyond. Last year, Coastguard Queenstown volunteers responded to numerous calls for help, and are the reason people came home safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help us promote the event and unit on social media platforms such as Facebook.
  • Create engaging posts, stories, and updates to generate awareness and drive ticket sales.
  • Engage with their audience by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries.
  • Share relevant content and updates about Coastguard Queenstown Unit to increase visibility and awareness.
  • Create a list of local businesses, organisations, and community groups who they can approach to sell tickets.
  • Coordinate ticket distribution and sales tracking efforts.
  • Provide regular updates on sales progress.
  • Help them liaise with local community groups, organisations, and event organisers to identify opportunities for Coastguard Queenstown to participate in or support events throughout the year, such as the A&P show.

You will work autonomously, and report into the wider Operations Team to support you with any questions and ideas. If the role becomes too big for one person, there will be an option to split into different roles. An induction will be provided by the team.

Requirements

Ideally you are someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a marketing role
  • Has a passion for people, storytelling, and creating engaging content
  • Has knowledge of the local community
  • Is able to work as part of a wider team
  • Has access to own laptop/ internet

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

Flexible, depending on what you are able to offer. Ideally, someone who could commit a few hours a week, and this may increase when getting closer to an event. There is a possibility of sharing the role if the commitment becomes too much for one person.

Volunteer South's office is closed from Friday 20th December until Monday January 6th. Many organisations listing roles online will also be taking a break.
