Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust is a non-profit mental health organisation committed to reducing the suicide rate in Aotearoa New Zealand. They provide peer support for people in mental distress from people who have a lived experience. They also offer support groups, free counselling, and mental health first aid training. The purpose of their Annual Street appeal, on 17 May 2024, is to raise funds for their much needed services, particularly free counselling and community mental health workshops.

As a Street Appeal Collector you will be:

  • Standing at your designated site for a 2-hour shift
  • Greeting members of the public with a friendly smile
  • Shaking buckets all around Dunedin and receiving donations from the public
  • Handing out resources, ribbons, stickers
  • You will always be working in pairs alongside another while collecting

Support provided:

  • You will be provided with information about Life Matters' mission and values before your shift
  • You will be provided with a vest and ID

Requirements

  • Be willing to shake a bucket for a couple hours on Friday 17 May!
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your shift to allow time for the brief induction and changeover
  • Bring your smile and passion for helping those in need
  • Bring a valid ID
  • Bring sunscreen/protection, a water bottle, and wear comfortable shoes
  • Expect to be on your feet for the duration of your shift

Time commitment

  • Minimum two-hour shift (please arrive 5 - 10 minutes before your shift)
