GirlGuiding NZ aims to empower girls to take action and change the world. They do this by using fun, adventure and friendship to build confidence and life skills. They are looking for Youth Leaders to fulfil the following duties for the Glenrose Pippins:

  • Attend and help run GirlGuiding NZ youth membership meetings
  • Facilitate different activities for the guides so they can learn various life skills and earn a badge
  • Activities vary depending on the badge, and could involve crafts, bush walks, camping and games etc
  • Help shape this young generation of girls into strong, confident, resilient young women with a vast skill set

Outside of the weekly sessions you will also:

  • Help plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening and weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader planning meetings, and trips or camps

Requirements

As a volunteer you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire and see girls reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Help plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening/weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader/planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios, they do require that you are older than 18

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment

  • Glenrose Pippins meet on Monday's from 5:30 - 7pm on Lindisfarne St, during school term time
  • There may be the occasional events and camps to attend - which will be held on a weekend
  • They also require a minimum six month commitment, so please consider this when applying for the role
