Grow Wānaka is a circular model community garden project working towards a more food secure, resilient and waste free community, while providing education, and community connection through collective growing, learning and sharing of ideas, knowledge and skills. They achieve this through collaborative community events such as Garden fundraiser and festivals.

As Media and Website support you will work alongside other volunteers and team members as well as independently to raise awareness of Grow Wānaka's community activities. The role entails managing the social, digital media platforms and website and can be a shared role depending on availability and skills.

Tasks can include:

  • Adding events and workshops to the website and facebook events pages as they are confirmed
  • Uploading weekly working bee, workshop and event photos to the website gallery
  • Ensuring content is current and the calendar is up to date
  • Creating collateral using Canva for workshops and events.
  • Creating content and sharing relevant content from collaborators.
  • Attend events to capture content for advertising and future events.
  • Potential for creative input into branding

Your work will contribute to the enhancement of the Grow Wānaka website and social media platforms showcasing this regenerative project to a wider audience. The role entails both working independently and connecting and coordinating with the team for successful outcomes. You will have lots of creative freedom to express yourself in your work and have a collaborative team to support you in your role.

Requirements

  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability for self-directed independent work as well as collaborative teamwork.
  • A creative eye for engaging content
  • Self-motivation and passion for the advancement of a local regenerative project.
  • Knowledge of the Wix platform is a bonus
  • Working knowledge of Canva and Mailchimp.
  • Familiarity with local advertising outlets.

Time commitment

This is a new role and can adapt to your availability.

  • Estimated: 2 to 4 hours of media and website work per month, which is flexible to fit your schedule
  • 1 team meeting per month for catching up and planning
  • Email or in person correspondence as needed
