Social Media Content Creator/Storyteller

MyFundAction New Zealand, is a registered non-profit organisation with a few branches globally. Here in Queenstown, their Youth Development Centre’s key focus is on entrepreneurship and volunteerism. They run programs and workshops to build skills in these areas. However, as a multicultural, community space, they also often run events and programs for other members of the community outside of the youth.

They are searching for a content creator/storyteller to help tell their story through visual content to the wider community: who they are, what they do, and what they want to achieve.

While there is an element of autonomous working in this role, you will be fully supported by the MYDC coordinator who will assist you in creating the content. You will also have an induction into the organisation where you will get to know their key messages, objectives, and goals.

Here are a few of the things you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Getting creative - fun, fresh, and exciting ideas welcome for all channels (TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook)
  • Creating storyboards and scripts for video marketing
  • Conducting interviews for their podcast
  • Filming and taking photos
  • Video and photo editing

As a volunteer you will:

  • Work autonomously on exciting content creation projects
  • Have support from a great team
  • Enjoy a fun place to volunteer - they regularly have events such as ping-pong tournaments - just for fun!
  • Have the opportunity to work with a local non-profit organisation that has international links too
  • Have the opportunity to learn about different cultures
  • Have access to a prayer room and halal cafe on-site

Apply your social media skills towards a great cause that supports future generations locally and internationally!

Requirements

  • An understanding of social media channels
  • Some experience in creating content is preferred, but not necessary
  • A fun, positive attitude
  • Creative thinker
  • Genuine desire to work with nonprofits, in particular, youth organisations
YOUTH are encouraged to apply. As a Youth Development centre, they're keen to support young volunteers in developing skills, while also building their CVs.

Important: Unfortunately, they cannot provide a camera or phone to film on. You will need to have access to a phone that is at least 1080p (Full HD) resolution or higher quality. You will also need to agree to delete all content once it is uploaded to the shared drive.

Time commitment

An average of three hours per week is preferred working on evenings and weekends (during our events and programs). Once per month, you will meet with the coordinator for a content planning session.
