New Zealand Red Cross Young Humanitarians aims to improve lives by inspiring young people to act on the humanitarian issues they care about through volunteering. The programme consists of six modules on topics like climate change, nuclear war, inclusion, and migration and is linked to local volunteering opportunities. These modules will be delivered by 2 volunteers, a Facilitator and a Supporter. Depending on demand, there could be multiple groups, each with their own Facilitator and Supporter. The role of the Coordinator(s) will be to support the planning and logistics to ensure smooth delivery of the workshops and community-based action.

Your tasks:

  • Organising volunteer Facilitators and Supporters e.g., creating volunteer rosters and co-ordinating volunteer tasks
  • Organising course catering and workshop materials
  • Coordinating transport (if needed).
  • Providing feedback after the programme is delivered.

The role can be completed by one person, or as a team - it's up to you what and when you'd prefer! You can also expect support from the team, to assist and guide you along the way.

Note: The programme is in its planning stage. A key outcome for this year will be to map out next steps to grow this exciting programme into a sustainable, annual activity for young people in our community.
