One of the community programmes provided by Hato Hone St John are Hospital Hosts who welcome visitors at the hospital foyer with a smile and offer a warm welcome, directions, and information.
A Hospital Host Team Leader is needed to support and look after our Hospital Hosts Team. If you have a little time each week to help people in a busy hospital setting and enjoy working with others and leading a team, then this could be the perfect role for you. This is your opportunity to use your skills in an organisation that really makes a difference to the NZ community.
The Hospital Host Team Leader role involves:
- Recruitment and training of new volunteers.
- Providing support and mentoring advice to the team.
- Liaising with Hospital staff.
- Reporting and attending Area Committee Meetings as required.
- Organising recognition events, meetings and training for the team.
- Attending at least one 2-3 hour Hospital Host shift per month.
Some of the team admin tasks are completed at home, while other tasks involve visting the hospital to liase with Hospital staff and with volunteers.

Requirements

- Computer literate to perform required administrative tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to relate to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Applicants must be 18+ with a clean criminal record.
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment
- A few hours a week administration and meeting time (some of which can be done from home).
- 2 hour initial induction (with ongoing training and support).
- A minimum of one 2-3 hour shift per month at the hospital.
