Youth Search and Rescue (YSAR) is a youth development organization committed to nurturing the future generation of community volunteers in the Search and Rescue (SAR) and Emergency Management (EM) sectors. They offer a comprehensive three-year training program for secondary school students, featuring a combination of Wednesday evening classroom sessions during the first three school terms, augmented by six practical weekend exercises throughout the year, culminating in a five-day end-of-year exercise. Volunteer instructors deliver these sessions both in classrooms on-site with sector partners and in outdoor settings.
The Dunedin branch of YSAR is currently seeking a volunteer Branch Manager. The primary responsibility of the Branch Manager is to coordinate the instructor and parent support team (Local Operations Committee - LOC), ensuring smooth local operations. This includes tasks such as ensuring the instructor team have the necessary resources for class delivery and distributing communications regarding upcoming exercises to parents and students promptly.
