The Wastebusters Refashion Show is back for its third year and has sold out every time! This much-loved event celebrates slow fashion, embracing individual style, and showcasing local sustainable designers alongside fabulous secondhand outfits. It’s a night of creativity, inspiration, and community connection – and they need your help to make it happen.
Here's how you can get involved

  • Sound Technician (1 needed)
    Ensure smooth sound operations - set up and manage microphones, music, and audio cues during the show.You will need to be available on rehearsal day as well as show day.

  • Lighting Technicians (2 needed)
    Create the perfect atmosphere - operate lighting during the event, including setting up effects for the runway. You will need to be available on rehearsal day as well as show day.

  • Runway Models
    Hit the catwalk in sustainable and secondhand styles with Confidence and willingness to showcase outfits on the catwalk. ANYONE can model - as long as you love rocking pre-loved or upcycled looks! You will need to be available on rehearsal day as well as show day.

  • Hair & Makeup Artists (4 each needed)
    Help models feel fabulous, comfortable & confident - work quickly and adapt to different styles and create polished looks

  • Ticketing & Ushers (2 needed)
    Perfect for friendly personalities, this role involves greeting guests, checking tickets, and directing attendees to keep the event running smoothly.

  • General Helpers (2 needed)
    Lend a hand wherever needed, from setup to pack-down. Some physical work needed, so a level of fitness may be required.

Requirements

Skills and experience requirements will vary from role to role:

  • knowledge of any technical equipment and skills related to the role (eg. sound, lighting, hair, make up, clothing)
  • a flair for any creative aspects of your particular role
  • physical fitness to carry out certain tasks
  • well organised and able to work to a plan and runsheet
  • work well in a team of multi-talented people
  • for customer facing roles, a friendly, approachable manner
  • good communication skills and a willingness to work together to achieve a common goal

Time commitment

Thursday 20th March 10am-9.30pm

  • Reporting times may vary depending on your role.
  • Some volunteers may be needed for rehearsal on Monday 17th March 4pm-6pm (as mentioned above)
  • Sound/Lighting and general helpers/set up volunteers will need to be available from 10am on event day
  • Everyone else on site on event day from 3.30 at the latest, and your reporting times will be communicated to you in advance.
