Ōamaru Hospital is responsible for the local Meals on Wheels service, required by Health New Zealand to provide nutritional support to the community by making low-cost, home-delivered hot meals available to residents.
They work with the friendly kitchen team at Iona Care Home who make and individually package nutritious meals delivered to Ōamaru Hospital and meals on wheels recipients in the local community. These meals are delivered by a friendly and dedicated team of volunteers.
Ōamaru Hospital is looking for a new volunteer coordinator to pick up the coordination of the programme. It will involve creating/maintaining the current roster, finding cover for sickness and be the primary contact for the volunteers and hospital administrator.
Volunteers will be given an orientation and instructions from the current roster coordinator, who will ensure you have all the information you need to fulfil this role.
This role would be suitable for someone who:
Genuinely cares about the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people in the community
Organised and compassionate
Is a clear communicator and has a friendly manner Is well-organised and adaptable
Is familiar with basic computer skills (emails)
This role could be shared with another person/people
A Police background check is required for this role.
Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), more time required in the beginning for handover, training and orientation.
