Community Link Wānaka is a local organisation committed to building stronger, more connected communities by supporting those facing hardship, isolation, or just in need of a hand. A winter highlight is WānaSoup – a grassroots project that provides warm, hearty soup to anyone who walks through the doors.
To keep WānaSoup warm and wonderful, the team is looking for four dedicated volunteers each Tuesday over the winter months (June–August): two to prepare soup ahead of time, and two to serve it with a smile from 12–1:30 PM at their Wānaka location. There are two ways to help – you can choose one or both depending on your interest and availability:
Soup Makers (2 volunteers weekly) :
Prepare a large pot of soup each week – either at home or in a kitchen, help can be arranged
Follow a simple recipe provided by Community Link (or bring your own tried-and-true winter warmer!)
Community link provides the ingredients – you provide the love
Drop off the soup at Community Link before 11:45 AM on Tuesday
Soup Servers (2 volunteers weekly):
Serve soup with warmth and hospitality at Community Link from 12:00 to 1:30 PM
Help with setup and tidy-up of the serving area
Greet community members and make everyone feel welcome
Work as a pair with another friendly volunteer
What are the benefits of the role?

An additional Wellbeing boost: Give your taha wairua (spiritual wellbeing) a lift by helping others, strengthen your taha whānau (social wellbeing) by connecting with others, and build skills that support your taha hinengaro (mental wellbeing).
Perfect for individuals, friends, or workmates looking to make a meaningful impact together.
