Be Heard is expanding its in-school counselling services by launching a new group work programme to support children who do not meet the criteria for individual counselling sessions, but still need support to build emotional resilience 💬ðŸ§
Be Heard provides individual counselling for children across seven primary and intermediate schools in Dunedin. Due to increased demand, a new group programme has been developed to extend this support. The organisation is looking for someone to lead a small group of six children through an eight-session programme during Term 4.
Full training will be provided, along with resources and supervision from the counselling team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to youth wellbeing in the local community 🌱💛
Ideally, this role suits someone with experience working with children in this age group. Confidence in managing a small group and guiding tamariki through their workbooks is essential. The person will need to be approachable, inclusive, and committed to confidentiality and child safeguarding ✅
A Police background check is required for this role.
One programme requires a commitment of 2–3 hours per week during Term 4. Training will take place during the school holidays, with 1–2 days availability needed between 22 September and 3 October 📅
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
