Cleaning Fairy

Salvation Army Community Ministries provide a range of services with the aim to give a helping hand so people are not dependent on government assistance and can gain a greater level of control over their life.

One of the many services the Salvation Army provides in Invercargill is the food bank. The food bank stands as a beacon of hope and compassion. It’s more than just a place where food is distributed — it’s a lifeline for individuals and families facing hardship. Whether it's due to unexpected financial strain, job loss, or rising living costs, many people find themselves in need of support. The food bank ensures that no one has to face hunger alone.

Their aim is simple yet profound: give a helping hand. They believe in the power of kindness, dignity, and community. Every parcel of food they provide carries a message of care and solidarity. It says, “You matter. You are not alone.

A cleaning fairy is needed to come in 2 or 3 times a week to help keep the foodbank sparkling.

This includes:

  • Vacuuming and mopping the floor
  • Wiping down surfaces
  • Weekly cleaning of fridges
  • Monthly schedule of cleaning containers

Requirements

This role would suit someone who:

  • is reliable, and able to work independently
  • want to support the work of the foodbank
  • enjoys keeping food storage areas sparkling

Time commitment

  • 2 or 3 times a week, or can be shared so only 1 or twice a week or week about.
  • Flexible but Tuesdays and Thursday are the best times.
