OUT&about Wānaka, the Queenstown Lakes region’s only dedicated rainbow charity, was established in 2024 following the success of the first Wānaka Pride Street Party. Since then, it has grown into a year-round charitable trust delivering educational programmes, support groups, and events that uplift and empower LGBTTQIAP+ people across the region. The trust continues to foster a stronger, more compassionate community.
OUT&about Wānaka is looking for a team of incredible volunteers to help bring Wānaka Pride Week 2025 to life from 3–7 September. Whether you’re keen to help out behind the scenes or be right in the action, there’s a role for everyone.
From creative set-up to friendly front-of-house, here’s a snapshot of the roles available:
Volunteer Coordinator 2IC
Help lead the crew on our biggest day! You’ll assist with volunteer scheduling, make sure everyone is in the right place, and be a key support for the team on Saturday 6 September.
Food & Beverage Assistant
Support the smooth running of our food and drink service during the Street Party. You’ll help with set-up, serving, and keeping things tidy. Hospitality experience is a bonus, but not essential - just bring a friendly attitude and attention to detail. (Saturday daytime)
Bar Staff
Pour the vibes! Serve drinks, handle EFTPOS, and keep the bar area running smoothly during our evening events. Hospitality experience is great, but we’ll provide support if you're new to it. (Friday and Saturday evening)
Decor Team
Help transform the venue into a fabulous, inclusive space. This role is perfect for creative types, crafters, and those who love bringing a vision to life. Most of the work happens before the event (starting early August), with some finishing touches on the Friday and Saturday.
Site Crew
Be part of the engine room behind the party! You'll help with set-up, pack-down, crowd flow, and supporting performers and vendors. Great for hands-on folks who like keeping things moving.
Ticketing & Customer Service
Welcome people in with a smile, scan tickets, and help answer questions. Perfect for those who enjoy chatting with people and keeping things organised.
Photographers & Videographers
Help capture the magic of Pride Week! We’re after experienced shooters to document the vibes, performances, and beautiful moments across the week. You'll be credited and tagged, and you'll be supported to get the best shots.
Sustainability/Green Team
Keep the event low-waste and planet-friendly. You’ll help with waste sorting, promote recycling, and encourage eco-friendly behaviour. A great fit for sustainability champions! (Saturday daytime)
Allrounders
Not sure where you fit? Flexible legends who are happy to pitch in wherever needed.
