Queenstown Marathon Marshal Volunteers

Organisation:

Inner Wheel Club of Queenstown

Category:

Fundraising

Hours:

Evenings/Weekends

Locations:

Queenstown

Every year the members of the Inner Wheel Club of Queenstown volunteer as marshals at various stations along the marathon course from Arrowtown to Queenstown. Volunteers are what make this event such a success for the Queenstown community and the athletes who take part.

The Inner Wheel Club of Queenstown raises money for local charities from this volunteer marshal work, and last year was able to fund child and adult programmes at Te Atamira and Happiness House as a result of this effort.

You are required to remain at your allocated post with support for up to 4-6 hours to:

  • assist athletes with directions and encouragement on the course.
  • ensure traffic and pedestrians do not impede the Marathon runners.

Volunteers receive an annual Skyline pass and a tee shirt as well as snacks on the day.

Requirements

Ability to stand for several hours and interact with the public in a responsible manner.

Saturday 15 November
A maximum of 6 hours on the day plus a 1-2 hour briefing session the previous week
