The Rothesay News is a free, community newspaper that has been publishing since 1989, connecting West Harbour communities — from Ravensbourne to Port Chalmers, Aramoana, and Purakaunui. It shares updates on local projects, school activities, and upcoming events.

The Rothesay News committee is looking for a new Chairperson and committee members to support their West Harbour's community newspaper.

The Chairperson role involves:

  • Chairing the monthly meetings.
  • Reviewing and distribution of meeting minutes.
  • Supporting the volunteers (editor, secretaries, treasurer/distributor and proof reader) who prepare the newspaper.
  • Completion of the annual Companies Office return.

Note: there will be ongoing support for the new Chairperson.

Committee member role involves:

  • Attending the monthly meetings.

Requirements

These roles would suit people who are:

  • Community minded.
  • Interested in supporting the publication of a free community newspaper.
  • Living on the West Harbour, or close to this area.

Time commitment

  • Up to one hour per month February-November - 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7pm in Rolfe Room, Port Chalmers Town Hall.
  • Christmas dinner in early December.
