Working Hours

Weekly working bees are great for meeting and working together with a small group of others, sorting fabrics, cutting out, sewing, stuffing and handsewing finishing touches.

Or you are welcome to take pre-cut elephants home to sew, or you are welcome to use our pattern to make up elephants from spare fabrics you have available. Labels can be provided.

We are aiming to make 4,000 elephants by next June.

Experience in working with different fabrics, creative use of colour and pattern, accurate fabric cutting, sewing skills using a sewing machine and hand-sewing. Working in a friendly and welcoming group environment. Helping with the project mission to reduce waste. Contributing skills to encourage local children and people in a wide range of situations through the gifting of completed elephants to community organisations.

Our weekly working bees are open to any level of experience with textiles and sewing, as volunteers can choose the area they are happy working, or have help learning new skills. All that is needed is enthusiasm.

For those interested in sewing from home, experience in making soft toys or any equivalent sewing would be a benefit. Written illustrated Instructions are available.

Warm comfortable clothing and footwear.

Training related to each step of construction is provided. Any additional support can offer can be arranged as needed.

Time commitment

Working bees are held on Thursday mornings each week, from 10am till 1pm. Volunteers are welcome for the whole 3 hours or for any shorter period they are available.
